Traditional Kitchen Remodel in
Delray Beach, South Florida

This traditional kitchen remodel in Delray Beach reflects a refined approach to South Florida living, where timeless design meets modern functionality. Rather than focusing solely on cabinetry and finishes, the project was approached as part of the home’s overall interior architecture.

The design integrates classical proportions, custom detailing, and a cohesive material palette to create a kitchen that feels both elegant and connected to the surrounding living spaces. As with all of our kitchen remodeling projects, careful consideration was given to spatial flow, natural light, and how the kitchen supports everyday living while maintaining a strong architectural presence.

Kitchen Showroom vs. Interior Designer:
A Complete Kitchen Remodeling Approach

Unlike a kitchen showroom that focuses primarily on cabinetry and product selection, an experienced interior designer approaches kitchen remodeling as part of the home’s overall architecture and lifestyle.

This kitchen remodeling project demonstrates how thoughtful design goes beyond installing cabinets. It considers how the kitchen integrates with surrounding living spaces, enhances interior architecture, and supports the way the home is used daily.

Today’s kitchens are open, central to the home, and visually connected to adjacent rooms. A successful kitchen remodel must account for spatial flow, proportion, materials, and how each element contributes to a cohesive interior design.

Before: Kitchen Remodel in Delray Beach

The original kitchen, installed just two years earlier through a showroom, featured production cabinetry and an outdated layout that did not suit the home’s eight-foot ceilings, resulting in poor proportions and functionality.

Construction issues compounded the problem. A missing moisture barrier and wood flooring installed beneath cabinetry led to black mold and costly damage.

This project highlights the importance of proper kitchen design and construction in any Delray Beach kitchen remodel.

Traditional Kitchen Remodel and Home Design

This completed kitchen remodel features a traditional off-white kitchen with a contrasting dark espresso island and integrated seating. Custom floor-to-ceiling cabinetry enhances the interior architecture, while the island incorporates paneling, corbels, and applied moldings for a refined, built-in look.

Panel-ready appliances were designed with matching cabinet fronts to create a seamless, cohesive aesthetic typical of luxury traditional kitchen design.

For the new engineered wood flooring, the existing adhesive was removed, the concrete slab was sealed with a liquid moisture barrier, and a Visqueen layer was added providing double protection and long-term durability for this Delray Beach kitchen remodel.

”Its All in the Details”

Custom kitchen cabinets offer a level of design flexibility that production cabinetry cannot match. While I have designed beautiful kitchens using pre-manufactured cabinets, custom cabinetry allows us to tailor every element to the home’s interior architecture.

Working with my custom cabinet maker, we achieve superior quality and finishes, including full crown moldings built in large sections to eliminate visible seams.

Custom cabinetry also allows for distinctive focal points, such as a dark espresso range hood with framed onyx tile and detailed corbels, creating a refined and cohesive kitchen design.

Undercabinet lighting is integrated flush with a matching finish, maintaining a clean architectural look—especially visible from the island seating and adjacent dining areas.

I specify composite granite sinks for durability and performance; here, polished nickel fixtures add contrast and reflect beautifully against the black sink.

Knowing the client’s affinity for coastal living, we selected “Ocean Beige” granite with subtle blue-green movement for the island, paired with rich black quartz countertops throughout the rest of the kitchen for balance and depth.
