My 10 Strategies for Interior Design

  1. Client Interviews:

    • I conduct thorough interviews with my clients to understand their preferences, lifestyle, and personal tastes. I ask about their favorite colors, textures, patterns, and any specific themes or styles they are drawn to.

  2. Client's Personal Items:

    • I take inspiration from my client's personal belongings, such as art collections, heirlooms, or travel souvenirs. Incorporating these items into the design can add a unique and personal touch.

  3. Lifestyle Analysis:

    • Consider my client's daily routines, hobbies, and activities. I design spaces that accommodate and enhance their lifestyle, ensuring functionality is seamlessly integrated with aesthetics.

  4. Color Preferences:

    • I pay attention to my client's color preferences. Whether they prefer bold and vibrant hues or a more subdued palette, I use their favorite colors as a foundation for the design.

  5. Artistic Influences:

    • I may explore my client's artistic preferences. Discuss favorite artists, art movements, or specific pieces that resonate with them. This information can guide the selection of artwork and influence the overall aesthetic.

  6. Architectural Elements:

    • I take cues from the architectural features of the client's home. Work with existing elements and enhance them to create a cohesive, harmonious design that complements the space.

  7. Cultural Background:

    • I consider my client's cultural background and heritage. Incorporate elements that reflect their cultural identity, ensuring a design that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

  8. Collaborative Design Process:

    • I like to involve my clients in the design process by seeking their input and feedback at various stages. This collaborative approach ensures that the final design reflects their vision, preferences, and personality.

  9. Presentation Boards:

    • As needed, I will create presentation boards (see link) or visual presentations that incorporate elements inspired by my client's input. This helps clients visualize the proposed design and provides a tangible reference for ongoing discussions.

  10. Flexibility and Adaptability:

    • I am always flexible and adaptable in the design process. Incorporate changes based on client feedback and evolving preferences, ensuring the final design aligns with their evolving vision.

Bringing the interior designer and architect together early in the design process can lead to optimal functionality, aesthetics, and overall space coherence. This includes considering the placement of walls, windows, lighting, and doors in a way that enhances both the architectural and interior design aspects.
