Interior Design & Kitchen Remodeling
in this East Fort Lauderdale Home
South Florida’s 1950s architecture has been updated for today’s
Contemporary & Modern Decor
Having spent my childhood in East Fort Lauderdale, I sincerely appreciate the 1950s architecture and interior design. This residence, constructed in 1957, has undergone various updates over the years. While the classic interior brick planters are no longer present, we were delighted to discover the original terrazzo floors.
Luckily, the fireplace has been preserved, and I suspect it has been tiled over the original bricks.
What used to be glass sliding doors is now the entrance to the newly added family room.
Balanced Simplicity
Where to put the dining table?
Borrowing a quote from the movie Mommy Dearest and utilizing it for my own dramatic effects -
I instructed my clients to “Put a dining table where it ought to be.”
I positioned the table within the archway, establishing a third seating area known as the Dining Area.
By incorporating applied molding and painting the entire wall in the same warm hue as the baseboards and crown, we introduced a remarkable architectural statement.
