An Old World Mediterranean Kitchen Designed for
Timeless Living in Boca Raton
This Old World Mediterranean kitchen in Boca Raton blends classic craftsmanship with thoughtful architectural detailing to create a space that feels both refined and enduring. From custom cabinetry and decorative moldings to artisanal finishes and carefully scaled proportions, every element was designed to honor traditional Mediterranean kitchen design while supporting modern functionality. The result is a kitchen that celebrates heritage, warmth, and the elegance of timeless design.
This traditional kitchen incorporates classic design elements while preserving an Old World aesthetic suited to its oceanfront Mediterranean setting in Boca Raton. The custom upper cabinets are intentionally oversized and carefully proportioned to the scale of the room, achieved by introducing a header above the cabinetry to enhance architectural presence. Rope molding was selected as the transition between the header and upper cabinets—a detail that reinforces the home’s coastal Mediterranean character.
The custom cabinetry is finished in an antique white, enriched with an oak glaze that highlights the raised panel doors and hand-carved moldings. Anchoring the kitchen is a custom stone range hood, flanked by solid wood corbels, creating a strong focal point that balances craftsmanship, tradition, and timeless elegance.
The wrought iron chandelier accented with crystals, paired with the aged wood plank dining table, reinforces the kitchen’s Old World ambiance and sense of timeless character. To maintain proper architectural scale, the coffered ceiling was carefully designed with layered detailing—from the crown molding to the dentil trim—each element finished with a matching oak glaze that adds depth and continuity throughout the space.
In keeping with traditional Mediterranean kitchen décor, a multicolor scroll stencil was introduced, completing the Old World aesthetic and adding a sense of artisanal craftsmanship. Glass-front cabinet doors introduce subtle sparkle while providing space to display beautiful accessories, china, or glassware; when illuminated, they create a soft, ambient night light. A classic plate rack offers the perfect opportunity to showcase Talavera plates, adding color, heritage, and personal expression to the kitchen.
This project exemplifies how an interior designer trained in kitchen design, with a strong understanding of architectural detailing, can thoughtfully integrate structure, ornamentation, and function throughout the kitchen remodel and interior design process.
