Coastal Beach Vacation Home Interior Design at Ocean Reef Club

With a deep-rooted connection to Fort Lauderdale and years of time spent sharing my family’s vacation homes at Ocean Reef Club and Boca Grande, I have developed a profound appreciation for the South Florida tropical lifestyle. My signature Florida Tropical interior design style is a modern homage to classic coastal architecture, inspired by the ocean, lush landscapes, and effortless island living.

Vibrant printed fabrics in oceanic blues, coral reds, and palm greens define my aesthetic, creating interiors that feel layered, relaxed, and timeless. Whether the style leans toward Bahamas-inspired décor, British Colonial beach house design, or a more Modern Coastal interior, each space reflects the essence of refined tropical living unique to South Florida.

As an interior designer specializing in Ocean Reef Club vacation homes, I take pride in creating coastal interiors that balance adventure with understated luxury. Each home is thoughtfully designed to reflect the relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle of this exclusive community. This Coastal Beach Vacation Home exemplifies the ideal family retreat—where comfort, timeless elegance, and tropical tranquility come together seamlessly.

Before & After Interior Design and Home Remodeling

After completing my client’s full home remodel and interior design, she expressed such delight that she jokingly wished there were more rooms left to design. Unbeknownst to her, the universe had other plans.

Just three weeks later, she called with unexpected news: her vacation condo at Ocean Reef Club had experienced a significant water leak, resulting in flooding throughout the residence. What began as an unfortunate event quickly became an opportunity transforming her wish into a new design project.

Our goal was to reimagine the condo as a small yet vibrant retreat, one that offered tranquility, color, and a sense of escape from the disruption caused by the flood. Embracing the challenge, we set out to create a relaxing coastal oasis infused with warmth, personality, and the effortless island lifestyle synonymous with Ocean Reef Club living.

The vacation home had once belonged to her parents, and she shared fond memories of her childhood spent at Ocean Reef Club. Her primary goal was to preserve that legacy and continuing the tradition by creating a place where her children and grandchildren could gather and build their own memories.

From an architectural standpoint, the focus was on maximizing the small footprint of the home. The original glass sliding doors were removed, and the enclosed patio was seamlessly incorporated into the living room to enhance both space and flow. The kitchen was reconfigured and expanded to accommodate a built-in refrigerator, improving functionality while maintaining a clean, cohesive design.

The result is a thoughtfully reimagined vacation home that balances family heritage with modern coastal living, tailored for comfort, efficiency, and timeless appeal.

For everyday dining and evenings spent playing cards, we eliminated the traditional table for four and introduced a custom kitchen peninsula with added storage and seating for eight. This reconfiguration maximizes function while encouraging gathering and conversation—essential for vacation home living.

The kitchen remodel is completed with quartz countertops featuring embedded sea glass, a detail that subtly references the surrounding ocean and reinforces the home’s coastal character while offering durability and timeless appeal.

Bead-board is essential to a Classic Beach House interior design, creating an authentic coastal feel. Crisp white bead-board was used on the TV wall, framed behind the sofa, and applied to the kitchen peninsula, while the kitchen ceiling is also finished in bead-board and was painted a rich deep aqua to add depth, contrast, and a fresh modern coastal character.

As part of the home remodel, the former patio was thoughtfully incorporated into the living room by relocating the glass sliding doors, allowing the space to expand and better connect the waterfront with the interior.

This living room captures a classic Beach House interior design with pale aqua walls, white-framed bead-board, a driftwood console with shell rope accents, and a coral red club chair paired with a dinghy boat table on a coral-bordered rug.
The custom drapery valance was designed to visually align with the soffit, creating a balanced and cohesive finish.

Beach-house bathrooms must be FUN ! Green sink cabinet with legs to give that old fashion furniture look with matching mirror, picture frame and a shelf for your collection of shell, of course !
