Working with an Interior Designer and Presentation Boards
Working with an Interior Designer and
visualizing your home using a Presentation Board
My favorite part about working with my clients on their interior design and home remodeling projects is when I finally get to reveal their beautiful new home in comparison to where we started. That brings me to my second most favorite interaction with my client - presenting the Presentation Board.
After all of our meetings and gathering my client's information and researching what interior design and architectural style they have envisioned for their new home - I then start selecting fabrics that will inspire a color scheme, now knowing our colors I can begin designing architectural accents such as flooring, stone, tile, wallpaper, and moldings, lastly, I begin to fill the room with furniture and lighting.
All of these elements come together on the presentation board and present the style of the room. Here I can tweak my selections and check for the balance and scale of the room.
Finally, the day comes to present the Presentation Board -
Looking back on my family of clients and the relationships that we had, I kind of look at it as a marriage -
First, be both sign the contract - Pow! we’re married, now what?
Second, I think when the times comes to view the presentation board it's like our honeymoon, were both giddy with the excitement of all the possibilities in our future -
Next, comes the long haul of invoices, purchase orders, scheduling contractors, home remodeling, construction, and installations - I consider this the day to day life with your partner -
Then finally, this brings me back to my favorite part "The Big Reveal" I consider this to be where we come back together and celebrate what we have created together - shall I say "Gave birth to"
As I have stated throughout my website, I need to create with my client as my first inspiration. I think my favorite response that I receive from my clients is when they say their new home is so much more than what they could have ever envisioned. For me, that's also a funny moment because I could see the completed room in my head thanks to the presentation board -
Ah-Ha Moment! I think from here on out I will call the interior designer's "Presentation Board" the new spiritually correct "Vision Board"

The Eclectic Chagall Red Room
This guest bedroom was inspired by my client’s beloved Chagall print - I then asked my him what his favorite color was - RED.
Hence I brought both of his favorites together and we created the Chagall Red Room.
The watercolor renderings helped me to balance out the bright red walls with the four wall panels and matching drapes.

Understanding the Presentation / Vision Board
I hope that after sharing some of my past client’s Presentation / Vision Boards and color interior design renderings, you will better understand what a helpful tool they can be. The presentation boards show the balance with the main elements in the room, it is also a great visualization tool for the architect, custom home builder, and most importantly, my client.
