“Colonial - Bahamas Interior Design Style”
in Mizner Country Club, Boca Raton Florida, 333496
This interior design and home / kitchen remodeling project was located in Mizner Country Club, Boca Raton and was a very relaxing experience - I love when my client and I have an instant rapport. My interior design process is based on interviewing and gathering information from my clients in regards to the vision they have for their home, showcasing their personality and utilizing their needs.
Since I am working with my clients vision I keep them very active in the design process and selection of posiblities, for example - fabrics and color coordination, furniture and placement, flooring and wall treatments, as well as architectural elements and custom cabinetry.
Next to the unveiling of the completed room my favorite part of the design process is the presentation showing my clients the style and room decor. During the presentation my client and I would play a game we called “Which is your Favorite” while we would agree on each selection, I would explain to her how each item compliments and accents each other.
Dining Room in a Colonial - Bahamas Style Located in the Mizner Country Club Boca Raton
In keeping with the Colonial - Bahamas style I selected a distressed driftwood looking dining table with matching chairs that have a two-tone fabric in a coral pattern. Instead of the standard single china armoire I chose two matching hutches that have the classic Colonial - Bahamas “X” style doors.
Customize any armoire / hutch with a coordinating wallpaper - Here I used a beachy grass cloth on a silver backing and mixed the gold trim dishes with new silver nautical accessories such as this silver serving tray.

Tommy Bahama from Lexington -
I love the Lexington line of furniture and nothing says Colonial - Bahamas Style like their Tommy Bahama line of furnishings.
I mixed two of their collections together to create a more visually appealing room.
I love how the bed and nightstands from Tommy Bahama Funiture collection match the existing natural wood doors and moldings. I wanted to keep that warm Colonial - Bahamas Style so I selected this tropical fabric with its dark coco-brown background and aqua-blue, sage-green and rusty-red accent colors. As for the flooring I used a sculptured carpet with a lattice like pattern and for the master bathroom we had a porcelain faux wood tile, both flooring material matched the coco-brown from the fabric in order to maintain the flow.
To contrast the dark coco I used the rust red color behind the bed and framed it with the matching drapery treatment and aqua-blue sheers. The same aqua-blue was used as the wall color through out the bedroom and dressing area.
The distressed black Tommy Bahama TV unit and dresser helped ground the blue walls and added a touch of masculinity to the bedroom - when designing a master bedroom that will be shared between a female and male, I always try to keep the the balance between femininity and masculinity - In all of my interior design styles I strive for balance between scale, color, and architecture - Perhaps it’s the Libra in me.

I designed custom cabinetry to match the existing wood work with his and hers counter top to ceiling storage columns with drawers. The end panels on the lower cabinets have a woven wicker inset that relates to the Tommy Bahama bed’s footboard.
The crystal cabinet pulls and silver and crystal vanity lights add sparkle to the room. I always have to incorporate a little Bling-bling in every interior design project.
As for the toilet room and walk-in shower I mixed it up a little and designed the bathroom with what was new on the market being this aqua-blue glass tile with StarGlass Urethane grout made with ground glass. I framed the glass tile with a liner and bull-nose tile that has the look and feel of pewter metal. I continued this combination and designed what resembles a baseboard and crown molding that continues around the perimeter of the room.
The light fixture is silver with crystal flowers - I was able to purchase the flowers and I made this custom matching mirror - I love when I can share my own hand made artistic elements in a clients decor.

This home office is in keeping with Colonial - Bahamas Style that was inspired through out the rest of the homes interior design. This gentlemen has a very sentimental collection of sports memorabilia that he has collected at events he and his family has attended. I wanted to showcase his collection and incorporate it into the architecture of the room with the wrap around shelf and open corbels. Myself not knowing anything of sports I have had four pro-ball players that I have done interior design and home remodeling for.
