Interior design and home remodel of the Coastal - Beach Vacation Home -
After years of living and doing interior design and home remolding at Ocean Reef Club while sharing my families vacation homes at Ocean Reef and Boca Grande, as well as growing up in Fort Lauderdale I have developed a love for the tropical lifestyle.
Call it what you will, Coastal Living, Tropical Decor, Beach House, Cape Cod Cottage or Mediterranean Villa - I think what they all have in common is to bring the colors and textures of the beach and ocean in doors and to encapsulate that care free lifestyle.
With my love of color I think my favorite aspect of working with clients on their vacation home is to let them explore outside of their decor comfort zone and boundaries - Such as a vacation home at Ocean Reef Club in the Florida Keys may be more colorful and adventurous than their traditional manor home in Chicago. I think this is most evident when my clients guest arrive and share the colorful and unique tropical beach decor.
Before and after pictures of home remodeling and interior design of ocean front vacation home located in
Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, 33037 -
This vacation home belongs to a long time client who’s home we completely home remodeled - we started with the interior design for her master bedroom and remodeled her master bath as well and finished her home with an entire kitchen remodel.
I shared with her my belief that what you envision and ask for you will receive - Well, after a year we completed her home remodel and all of her interior design projects and we looked back and commented on how much fun we had working together, she told me that she wished that she had more projects - I told her to be carful what you wish for.
After about 3 weeks I receive a call from her telling me that her vacation condo at Ocean Reef Club had a water leak and the place was flooded - Our wish was granted and we had a new project.
Kitchen and home remodel -
For the kitchen remodel we chose the classic white shaker cabinets above the upper cabinets was a coral painted header with an applied molding and a cove crown under the bead-board ceiling that was painted in a rich New England Blue color.
The clean white subway tile backsplash extended from the “Beach Glass” imbedded quartz counter tops up to the crown molding with a rope detail around the window to match the two framed glass tile inserts.
While doing any home remodeling keep in mind what you decide to use for your flooring will make a large impact on your home's decor. Today's choices in porcelain tile with the look of wood is amazing. I love the dark and light golden tones in this tile - It gives the look of driftwood without being to gray and notice that the planks are in two different widths giving it a rustic random look.
This living room decor can not get much more Beachy with its pail blue walls, white framed beadboard, driftwood console with shell rope accessory, coral red club chair with the Dingy Boat table on top of a coral bordered rug.
The picture to the left and above shows how I designed the drapery valance to balance and match the soffit on on the left of the room.
